Legal Options and Caregiving Alternatives
The Texas Foster Youth Justice Project provides free legal help to people who have experience in foster care or young people who are homeless or do not have any family support. We help people understand their rights, access benefits, and overcome certain barriers that may keep them from supporting themselves. We provide legal information, guidance, referrals, and representation to remove barriers to living independently. We also educate the general public about the legal needs and concerns of foster and homeless youth.
This section includes information specifically for youth who are not in the foster care system and those caring for them. You can download a PDF version of this information here: When Minors Live Apart from Their Parents: Legal Options and Caregiving Alternatives.
